Cadillac Unveils New Luxury Wagon

After the station wagon’s popularity slowed down in the 80’s, it was replaced by the SUV. The SUV was king in the 90’s. Now that drivers don’t want SUVs anymore, it seems the wagon just might make a comeback.
Cadillac will unveil its new CTS wagon Friday, a combination of a sporty sedan in the front and a cargo-friendly SUV in the back, reports USA Today.
"The market for wagons is very thin," says George Peterson, president of consultant AutoPacific.  "In Europe, wagons are considered the sportiest body style.  Here, it’s the predecessor to the minivan."
Cadillac will try to draw customers in who want to get rid of their gas-guzzling SUVs with the CTS wagon.  It has an optional 304-horsepower, 3.6-liter, direct-injection V-6 engine with all-wheel drive. The wagon will get about 26 miles per gallon on the highway.  With a base price expected in the upper $30,000 range, it goes on sale in the spring as a 2010 model.
