Audi to Unveil New A7 “Concept” in Detroit
Audi has announced that it will be showing a concept version of its new A7 sports sedan in Detroit. The A7 is basically a Mercedes-Benz CLS rival. This newest of automotive design fads is to create a "four-door coupe". In the end, you end up with a highly stylized car that seriously lacks rear headroom.
The trend is spreading too. even sensible Volkswagen has jumped on board the four-door coupe bandwagon. Still, Audi’s new A7 will probably be gorgeous. If there is one thing the boys from the four rings brand have been able to do well lately, it’s design beautiful cars.
The company wants to gauge reaction in Detroit, so as to decide whether or not to bring this new model to North America. Pricing should not come cheap as it will slot between the A6 and A8 (obviously). If it does come here, and expect it to, the A7 should land sometime around late 2009 to early 2010, according to one Audi executive. The company expects to sell about 40,000 A7’s a year once production is fully up to speed.
Until January, all we have is this sketch.
