Ford Reportedly Considers Selling Mazda
Ford is allegedly thinking about selling part of its stake in Mazda. Mazda issued a statement saying that "nothing has been decided," but it did not deny that Ford is discussing it. Ford did not comment on any talks of a sale. "Our relationship with Mazda remains unchanged," said Ford spokesman Mark Truby.
Unnamed sources say that no deal had been reached, reports the Detroit News. They also say that Ford will not sell Volvo right now.
Japanese broadcaster NHK reported that Ford was looking to sell about 20 percent of Mazda.
The sources said Ford’s board of directors told executives to come up with a plan to sell at least part of the company’s 33.4 percent stake in Mazda. They also said Ford has had discussions with some potential buyers in Asia.
The negative to this story is that no one knows who these “sources” are who are giving out all this information. Maybe Ford will officially let us in on what’s going on soon.
