GM Adds Dealer Cash Incentive to Employee-Price Discount
GM is boosting cash offers this month on 2008 models in addition to the current employee pricing discount for everyone. GM recently extended the employee pricing program through September.
Bloomberg reports that the new program allows dealers to give up to an additional $2,000 off through rebates using a formula based on last year’s sales, said Troy Ontko, president of AISrebates.com in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
“Dealers ordered a lot of these more expensive big trucks earlier this year expecting that they’d be able to lease them now, but that’s just getting too expensive for GM,” said Ontko. “So if you’re able to take even more money off the price of a Tahoe, that may convince a consumer to buy rather than lease.”
John McDonald, a GM spokesman, declined to comment on GM’s incentive strategy.
