Korean Launch of Genesis Coupe Gives us an Idea of the Price

The Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a real breath of fresh air for a company that has been associated with Daewoo’s and Kia’s for way too long. When it does debut here in the states, it should be quite a hit. Our South Korean friends seem to think so, since at their home launch it was very well received indeed.

In South Korea, the Genesis Coupe starts at a bargain price of $19,586. That gets you a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine good for 210-hp, rear wheel drive, and a 6-speed manual. If you want the upscale V6, it will cost you a very un-upscale $28,636. That model will see you laying 306-hp to the tarmac via a new generation 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engine sure to make its way across the company’s entire model line-up.

Both models can be equipped with such options as Brembo braking hardware and an Infinity audio system. While South Korean pricing does not reflect what we’ll pay, it’s pretty close. Once on our shores, expect the Genesis Coupe to be priced way less than $30,000.
