Mercedes-Benz ConceptFASCINATION Hints at the Next E-Class
Mercedes-Benz has long had a tradition of revealing future models through so-called "concepts" which are presented usually at the end-of-year auto shows. The latest concept is quite different from what we are used to. In fact, it shows where MB is heading in the near future.
Called the ConceptFASCINATION, this newest design study pairs many ideas together to form a thoroughly-modern Benz automobile. Mercedes-Benz calls the look of its ConceptFASCINATION showcar "sense and sensuousness", umm, okay. Mercedes goes on further to say this "design study" is intended to show that a coupe can have "fast, thrilling lines" and practicality at the same time. What it ultimately says is "look, this is the next E-Class!"
While this might not be the next E-Class entirely, be sure that the front treatment will carry over to the production model intact. Mercedes looks to us for approval by showcasing their next automobiles as concepts. Obviously, if the concept was met with universal rejection, then MB knows to press the big, red ABORT button.
The ConceptFASCINATION is powered by Mercedes-Benz’s latest four-cylinder diesel powerplant. No specs have been released yet, but rest assured that it is the latest and greatest in regards to diesel technology. Expect to see the car debut at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.
If this is the next E-Class, then sign me up.
