Smart ForTwo Owners Get Free Transmission Upgrade
The one major mechanical problem with the Smart ForTwo has been its transmission. Customers and critics have complained about the car’s rough shifts between gears and hesitancy going in to gear, according to Motor Authority.
Smart is addressing these issues by offering every owner of a Smart ForTwo a free upgrade for their transmission’s software, which apparently is to blame for the problems. The problem affects 24,622 2008 model year Smart ForTwos, and the fix will take approximately 90 minutes.
