Supercharged Chevy Silverado Callaway SportTruck Will Have 540-HP
Legendary Corvette Tuner Callaway is turning its sights on the Chevy Silverado. The Callaway Silverado SportTruck will have up to 540-horsepower thanks to a supercharger and supporting upgrades. Callaway is famous for building high performance Corvettes, and also tunes trucks and SUVs.
With the popularity of trucks showing no sign of declining, Chevrolet is behind the game on sport trucks. Ford has the Raptor, Dodge has the Ram Express, Toyota makes a supercharger for the Tundra through TRD, and Chevrolet still has no SS, even with all of the high powered engines available in the Corvette, Camaro, Chevy SS and CTS-V that would bolt right in.
Instead of an SS, Silverado buyers who want a more powerful truck will have to buy a Callaway SportTruck. A 5.3-liter version of the Chevy Silverado Callaway SportTruck will have 450-horsepower and the 6.2-liter Callaway Silverado will have 540-horsepower, according to Motor Authority. That will be enough to keep up with the 500-horsepower TRD supercharged Tundra and blow by the 411-horsepower Ford Raptor and the 390-horse Ram Express.
