Hyundai updated the Sonata Hybrid’s battery for 2013 with a more powerful 47 kilowatt model that makes the car more efficient than ever. The Sonata Hybrid’s fuel economy jumps to 36-mpg city and 40-mpg highway. The Sonata Hybrid also gets revised start-stop software and driving pattern detection, according to Autoblog. The newer battery is also smaller than the old one, which frees up two cubic feet of trunk space, bringing it to 12.1 cubic feet.
Despite the upgrades to the 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, the new model will actually cost less than the old one. The 2013 Sonata Hybrid will start at $25,650, which is $200 less than the 2012 Sonata Hybrid costs.
