2014 Chevy SS Will Start at $44,000, Have 50/50 Weight Distribution
The 2014 Chevy SS will start at $44,470 and will include luxury features like ventilated seats, automatic parking and a rear view camera standard. The $44,470 base price on the 2014 Chevy SS does not include a destination fee or any gas guzzler tax the car might qualify for. The 415-hp SS will be the first rear-wheel drive V8 sedan sold by Chevy since the 1996 Chevy Impala SS and the first by GM since the Pontiac G8 was discontinued. Unlike most large cars, the Chevy SS will be a performance car all the way through, from its Brembo brakes to its 50/50 weight distribution.
There will only be two options on the 2014 Chevy SS, so expect every dealer to specify both in order to maximize profits. Those two options are a sunroof got $900 and a full sized spare tire for $500. The reason there are barely any options is that the 2014 Chevy SS comes with just about everything you could ask for standard. Lane departure warning, blind spot alert, rearview camera, a heads-up display, dual zone climate control, automatic parking assist, LED headlights, Chevrolet Mylink, a Bose stereo and heated and ventilated seats are all standard.
Unlike the dearly departed Pontiac G8, which was on sale from 2008-2009, the Chevy SS sedan will only be available with a V8 engine. That V8 will be a 6.2 liter LS series V8 with 415-horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque that will bring the SS from 0-60 in just five seconds.
Five colors will be available on the Chevy SS at launch, Mystic Green (let’s hope that matches the 1994-1996 Impala SS’ mint green color, which I think was the best option after black for that particular big body brawler), Silver Ice, Red Hot, Phantom Black and Heron White.
According to Auto Week, the 2014 Chevy SS has an almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution, which is normally reserved for the most track focused sports cars.
