2014 Corvette Stingray LT1 Engine Will Have 460-HP

The 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray’s new LT1 engine will make 460-horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Stingray’s LT1 engine will be a 6.2-liter V8 with 455-horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque with the standard exhaust or 460-horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque with the optional performance exhaust.

The 460-hp base engine may not seem like a huge improvement over this year’s 430-hp 2013 Corvette, especially when the Camaro ZL1 makes 580-hp. The new 2014 Stingray Corvette’s 460-horsepower and starting price of $51,995 means it’s a better performance buy than the $60,100, 414-horsepower BMW M3 or the $62,330, 451-hp Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.

Many people would argue that the Corvette doesn’t have the same level of refinement and interior décor that the M3 and C63 AMG have. Those people wouldn’t be wrong, but Chevy is making strides towards removing the Corvette from its Cavalier steering wheel roots and turning it into a legitimate personal luxury sports car.
