2014 Subaru Forester Gets Macho Styling, 32-MPG

The 2014 Subaru Forester will go on sale soon and will have a more truck-like macho style, as well as new engine and transmission choices that will get as much as 32-mpg highway. That extra fuel economy doesn’t come at the cost of utility, the 2014 Forester is actually bigger than last year’s model.

The base 2014 Subaru Forester (below) will still be powered by the 2.5-liter four cylinder engine (Subaru Impreza models now have a 2.0-liter engine) with 170-horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, which is rated at 24-mpg city and 32-mpg highway with the CVT automatic transmission or 22-mpg city and 29-mpg highway with a six-speed manual. The Forester 2.0XT (above) will get a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 250-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Forester 2.0XT manual transmission will just be a dream for those few people who want a sporty SUV, it will only be available with a paddle-shifted CVT that will get 23-mpg city and 28-mpg highway.

The 2014 Subaru Forester’s more attractive design isn’t just an aesthetic exercise. The new Forester will have larger doors and more cargo room than the 2013 Forester had. There will also be more window space, which will make the Forester easy to drive since it will keep visibility good.
