Chrysler Announces 2015 Ram Promaster City Based on Award Winning Fiat Doblo Van
The Fiat Doblo shown above will be the basis for the new 2015 Ram Promaster City.
Chrysler announced today that the company will launch a new Ram Promaster City small commercial van. The Ram Promaster City will compete with the Ford Transit Connect and the Nissan NV200 for the newly emerging small van segment. The Promaster City, like the already available Promaster, will be based on a Fiat van, this time the Fiat Doblo, which won International Van of the Year twice according to Chrysler’s press release.
The Fiat Doblo is an established name in commercial vans in Europe. With a short wheelbase and thin profile, the Doblo is maneuverable (and parkable) even in the most congested cities.
The Ram Promaster City will be available in both cargo and passenger versions and should come with a gas mileage rating of over 30-mpg if Europe-spec Fiat Doblos are any indication. The Fiat Doblo is available in several different body styles, including extended wheelbase, high roof, pickup truck and chassis cab.
While the small vans won’t set anyone’s heart aflutter with their performance, fleet owners will probably be salivating over the fuel economy.
