True to his Detroit roots, Eminem prefers American cars. Eminem has a Hummer H2, which if you listen to car forums is the most obviously American sign of excess that no other country would ever even dream of building and is wholly responsible for the downfall of GM, just as long as you forget about the Toyota Sequoia, Nissan Armada, Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Eminem also used to drive a 1999 Mustang GT convertible. Interestingly for someone with such a tough public persona, Eminem painted his Mustang purple from its original red (though that was done for his Purple Pills video). In 2002 Eminem sold the Mustang (he does have custody of two kids, that can’t be easy in a convertible sports car) and it was put up for auction on Ebay. A 12 year old girl bought the car, or rather her father, a wealthy fitness club founder, did. She told MTV that she would just wash it and listen to music in it until she was old enough to drive. Once age 16 rolled around, some of the shine had faded from the Mustang and it was once again put up for sale on Ebay in 2007.
