Ford’s new Fiesta will hit the U.S. in 2010.
The Ford Fiesta is making a comeback and will make its way to North America. Ford will build the new car in Mexico as part of a $3 billion investment in the country.
The Fiesta hatchback will be built at the Cuautitlan facility near Mexico City starting in early 2010, reports the Wall Street Journal. Production of the new Fiesta will create about 4,500 new jobs at the Ford facility.
The investment is said to be Mexico’s largest-ever auto investment, with President Felipe Calderon saying the only greater amounts of private investment were banking acquisitions.
"Our investments in these facilities in Mexico are part of our plan to further realign our manufacturing capacity in line with the introduction of more small cars and crossovers," said Ford President and Chief Executive Alan Mulally.

The original Ford Fiesta made its debut in 1976, and it sold more than 12 million of the cars in Europe. The Fiesta will go on sale in Asia and Europe this year and will be available in North American showrooms in 2010.
