GM Extends Money-Back Incentive Program Into Early Next Year

General Motors is extending its vehicle return program into early 2010. GM says the money-back guarantee, named “May the Best Car Win”, is getting consumers to consider the automaker’s vehicles. GM launched the campaign in September as a way to get consumers to try GM cars and trucks with minimal risk, the AP reports.

Car buyers can return a vehicle between 31 and 60 days after purchase if they aren’t completely satisfied. It was originally scheduled to end Nov. 30, but will now last until Jan. 4, 2010.

About 450 people have actually taken GM up on its offer to return the vehicle. GM will expand the campaign in December to magazines and newspapers. GM also plans to use social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook to promote its vehicles.

GM will announce its October sales figures early next week. The automaker predicts it will see its first year-over-year sales increase in 21 months.

GM wants to show consumers that its current lineup of vehicles is better than the old perceptions of the brands’ cars, trucks and SUVs.
