Porsche’s Sales Incentive: When you Buy a Porsche, You Get to Drive a Porsche
While most automakers are offering unheard of rebates and incentives on new cars to try and lure in as many buyers as possible, Porsche is taking a different route to improving sales. Instead of offering wild and crazy discounts, Porsche is letting potential customers test drive cars. According to Porsche, the only incentive its customers need is the reminder that when you buy a Porsche, you get to drive a Porsche.
So is this the greatest marketing campaign ever or the worst? It’s the difference between being cocky and confident. If you can back it up, you’re confident. If this campaign works, Porsche has just proven that its cars are so wonderful that even in the middle of a global financial meltdown, people are willing to pay a premium for them. But if it doesn’t, Porsche has to eat crow and admit that the cars aren’t good enough to sell just on their own and they need to be discounted.
If you’re anything like me, you definitely can’t afford a new Porsche. So this campaign provides us with the unique opportunity to drive a new Porsche without having to carjack that jerk in the 993 turbo with the stupid Bluetooth earpiece on, doing 35 in the left lane, like he’s trying to tease me or something.
“Yeah I’ve got your dream car. And no, I’m not going to have fun with it at all. I’m going to purposely be boring so that you realize how unfair the world is when someone as boring as me gets the car you’ve been dreaming of since you were nine.”
All you have to do is sign up for a test drive at https://www.porschedealer.com/firstmile38/, park your junker around the corner and show up wearing nice enough clothes that the salesman thinks you might be able to get financing, and enjoy.
NOT designed to be driven 10 miles under the speed limit.
