Vehicles With the Top Resale Values for 2013
KBB has released its list of the 2013 vehicles that will have the best resale values. The list comes from estimates of the resale values of vehicles over the first five years of ownership based on the depreciation of older vehicles, either the same vehicle, or comparable ones. Obviously this is all conjecture, but KBB has been in the business of valuing cars for a long time, so they know what they’re talking about when they talk about depreciation. And if they’re wrong, they write the book on car values, so they can just set values wherever they want them and there’s nothing you can do about it.
The list of best resale values for new cars features a lot of Toyota and Honda cars, which will make my mother very happy since those are the only brands she is willing to buy. Toyota did lose in one important category. The Ford Fusion Hybrid was estimated to have the best resale value for a hybrid vehicle, beating all of the Prius models. Toyota’s Lexus RS450h did win the hybrid SUV category, so the company saved some face there.
The full list of all of the 2013 model year cars with the best projected resale values by category is below. Some of the categories seem a bit odd, for instance why is the luxury car section the only one broken up by price rather than size. Probably because KBB doesn’t want to admit that the Hyundai Genesis will have a better resale value than the Panamera and have to defend the position that it is, in fact, probably a smarter purchase. and how is the Camaro SS a high performance vehicle and not a sports car? It’s almost like Beyonce winning best video of the year after she lost best female video of the year.
