Porsche Opens its New Museum
German icon and auto manufacturer Porsche has recently announced the completion and grand opening of its new company museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. The museum’s grand opening will be January 31. Porsche quaintly describes it as "one of the greatest and most spectacular building projects in the history of Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Porsche AG."
The building itself is an architechtural marvel to behold. The oddly shaped building seems to "float" atop gigantic support structures. From a design standpoint, it’s quite an achievement indeed. Porsche is clearly smitten with the building as it is spending a good deal of advertising money on promoting it.
Inside, there are 80 historic cars, ranging from the company’s humble beginnings to the present day. The 60,000 square foot structure also manages to house a restaurant, coffee bar and a glass-walled workshop where visitors can observe cars undergoing active restoration. Cool! The museum is currently open to the public.
