Last week, we reported that Porsche’s new sales incentive is test driving, and wondered if it would become one of automotive history’s best examples of pride coming before the fall. Now Ford is (sort of) trying the same strategy. In addition to the heavy sales incentives on Ford vehicles, the company is offering to donate $20 in your name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a non-profit dedicated to raising money for breast cancer awareness and treatment, and all you have to do is test drive one of Ford’s cars.
Charities are an unfortunate victim of a recession. With so many people forced to cut expenses, it becomes increasingly difficult for nonprofit foundations to raise money. Now you can help out a good cause without actually having to take out your wallet.
"The Ford Advantage Plan also delivers a ‘community advantage’ to remind people that Ford and its dealers will be there to support to support them and the charities they care most about – in good times and bad," Ken Czubay, vice president of sales and marketing said.
To participate in the program, go to www.fordcares.com and get yourself a registration form and number. Then go to any Ford, Lincoln or Mercury dealership and test drive a car or truck. They’ll give you a code that will validate your registration and ensure that your $20 will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
So while you’re out test driving that Porsche you can’t afford, check out a Mustang that you might be able to, and at the very least you’ll have some fun and help fight breast cancer.
