Gilt Groupe, an online designer and luxury e-commerce company, will be selling three new 2011 Volkswagen Jettas this week for $5,995. No, that’s not a typo. Volkswagen dropped the 1 from the Jetta’s starting price of $15,995, to promote its "Great for the Price of Good" message. The promotion from Gilt Groupe and Volkswagen starts Wednesday, Dec. 15 and goes through Friday, Dec. 17.
Each day, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, there will be only one new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta for sale for $5,995 on Gilt Groupe’s site, www.gilt.com. The sale starts at noon EDT each day. On Dec. 15, the sale will only be accessible through Gilt mobile applications on the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android devices. On Dec. 16 and 17, the sale will take place on Gilt.com as well as through the mobile applications. You have to be a member of Gilt to buy the Jetta for the sale price. Each Jetta will be presented in a one of a kind "Gilt Gold" wrap and nearly $18,000 in proceeds from the Jettas sold will be donated to the charity Dress for Success. If you aren’t fast enough to be one of the three who score a Jetta during the three-day event, Volkswagen will still give you an incentive. Gilt members who add the Jetta to their "Wait List" will receive a special incentive that can be redeemed at participating Volkswagen dealerships nationwide.
