2011 Buick Regal Named Top Safety Pick
The new 2011 Buick Regal sedan has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is the Institute’s top safety award. The Buick Regal accomplished good ratings for front, side, rollover and rear impact protection during IIHS tests for the large car category.
To win this award, vehicles not only have to have good crash test ratings, but also must have electronic stability control, which is standard on the Buick Regal. The 2011 Buick Regal is the seventh vehicle from GM to earn the Top Safety Pick award since the IIHS implemented a new roof strength requirement for protection in rollover crashes. The Regal’s roof withstood a force equal to nearly five times the car’s weight, which is much higher than the current federal standard of one and a half times the car’s weight.
The 2010-2011 Buick LaCrosse also earned a Top Safety Pick award, Cars.com reports. The 2008-10 Buick Enclave also was named a Top Safety Pick, but that was before the roof strength test. The 2006-10 Buick Lucerne has a Good rating in the frontal crash test but only Acceptable in side impact.
The 2011 Buick Regal can be leased for $289 a month for 39 months with $1,779 due at signing.
